Agrisell Inflatable Thundercat Racing Team - World Championships 2017
South Africa is privileged to host the Annual Thundercat Inflatable Boat World Championship in our beautiful mother city, Cape Town, from the 2nd to the 11th of March 2017.
Agrisell’s Inflatable Thundercat Racing Team have been preparing for the World Championship for a while now. We are represented in both the Modified and Pro-Stock Classes.
Heading up the Teams is Johan Lodewyks, pilot of the M1 Class, and his Co-Pilot Flippie Schoeman. Johan is the current National Champion. He says: “It is a big privilege for us to be able to represent Agrisell in this year’s World Championships. It’s great that the event takes place on home soil. We are very excited!”, Johan, being a multiple South African champion, has a very good chance to come out on top and we wish him all the best in this exciting challenge! They have also been selected to represent the Protea’s in this prestigious event and with competitors from Germany (last years Modified World Champ), Russia, etc. they have their work cut out for them!
In the Pro- Stock Class, Chris Vosloo and Gerhard Swiegers is holding the Agrisell flag high. Being relative newbie’s to the sport, they have a big challenge ahead. In this class, there are roundabout 35 boats from around the world competing for top honours in this class. “We are super excited about the event and feel very humbled by the opportunity and support given to us by Agrisell!”, Chris finished as Runner-up in last year’s National Championship in the Pro-Stock Class and have been selected to represent S.A.I.R.A (South African Inflatable Racing Association) in this year’s event.
Agrisell will have Gazebo’s at each of the events and invites all our friends and clients to come join us on Blaauwberg beach for some spectacular racing. The racing venues are awesome.
The program consists of 2 days of surf circuit racing (4 and 5th March at Blaauberg beach opposite Doodles Restaurant starting at 9h15am), one day long haul (long distance 180km starts at 9h15 on the 7th March at Blaauberg beach) and two days of flatwater circuit racing (9th and 10th March at Oceana PBC starting at 9h15).
