Cape Epic 2016

“ The ABSA Cape Epic is the most televised mountain bike stage race in the world and AGRISELL took the opportunity to support the Karoo Poison team who campaign  awareness for the anti-fracking of the Karoo” says Jannie Fourie, the Principal of AGRISELL. “It is no longer just a mountain bike race, in 13 years it has become a globally recognised sports event  brand.” according to Fourie.

The ABSA Cape Epic is organised and presented with the participating athletes as the focal point.

Their satisfaction, well-being and enjoyment of the race are the founders of the Cape Epic's primary goals. It is open to professional and amateur mountain bikers. During the race there are various spectator points where landowners have opened their farms – some even offering breakfast. The last stage of the 2016 ABSA Epic finishes like it starts, with a bang at the beautiful Meerendal Wine Estate in Durbanville.

AGRISELL, in association with its co-partners Access Properties, supported the Karoo Poison team in the 13th edition.  This took place from 13 - 20 March 2016 and was as challenging as ever. This race must be completed by both members of a two-person team.

The Karoo Poison team was represented by Wictsche Oosthuizen and Louis Stroebel and it was their first Cape Epic. “I am blessed to have the health and opportunity, my family supports me and I want to go and see those dark places where I’ve never been before” was the motto of Louis.

“They finish the 647 km in their category position 186th and were 405th in the GC position and we are extremely proud of the boys” Fourie applaud them on the results of their first Epic.
