CALVINIA: Scenic Karoo livestock and game enterprise of note

The natural vegetation is supplemented by oats planted on the 82 hectares of arable land during winter. Due to large volumes of shrub and dry grass material being available during the dry periods, only additional energy supplements are needed to keep the livestock in good condition. On the plains, the vegetation consists mainly of indigenous, short shrubby succulent plants.

The carrying capacity is 1:32 and the farm can comfortably carry livestock such as cattle, sheep, and goats. It is also ideal for game farming.

There is a spacious 3-bedroom house, with 1-bathroom, a separate toilet, open plan kitchen/lounge and TV/braai room, as well as more or less 80 sq metre garage, situated in a lush garden. The cottage and a newly built wendy-house are used by the farm labourers. All the buildings are in good repair.

Livestock farming infrastructure consists of a spacious storage shed, various other outbuildings and a butchery with cool storage. The facilities for handling cattle and small stock are near the homestead. All infrastructure is well-designed, functional and in good repair.
